ABBOTS UNIVERSAL MEDIUM
This medium is the basis of Abbots brush-on clear glaze.
Any glaze material can be dispersed in this medium (rather than in water) to produce a thixotropic gel suited to brush application. This enables multiple coats of glaze of one or more varieties to be applied without risk of peeling or blistering. The risk of crawling is lessened due the strong bond between glaze and body.
We suggest adding glaze to medium in a ratio of 1-1.3 parts glaze to 1 part medium (by weight). Vary these proportions or add a little water to achieve the density and brush-feel that works for you.
Disperse the glaze in the medium using a stick blender or power mixer. Sieve through an 80# sieve before using.
1) I appreciate you resending the clay and wearing the loss after your mistake of sending it to the wrong state, but I never received the glaze, so only part of the order which is frustrating and an in essay loss to me.
2) the clay is SO soft and hard to work with. Throwing - it won’t hold its own shape and collapses. Then at leather hard as soon as you add water it turns to mush. Handbuilding - same issue but a little more workable.
I will say, it does fire to a beautiful colour.
I managed to still get some pieces made - though they are wonky. But everything was so much harder than it had to be.
I don’t have a proper picture but all 10 pieces turned out bubbled. Tiny little bubbles.l through the glaze.
The clay is a Keanes stoneware and 3 good layers didn’t bring out the yellow but I’ve got another batch going in so maybe this will come out differently.
Gorgeous glaze, deep green and translucent as expected. Just a little tricky to apply (like a dipping glaze) so I might need to add some brushing medium.
I love the colours and as someone new to pottery it’s just exciting to know that this product has quality and a huge range of colour. Looking forward to adding more to my existing colours and exploring what magic can happen with them!

Purchased the clay a few months ago, finally have time to try it, nice texture and strength, very easy to throw, definitely will order again once I finish my current stock.
Versatile medium hand build slab work and wheel throwing. I think this is my new favourite . I absolutely love this stone ware nigra clay, couldn't be happier with my results
